VProtect Is co-sponsoring the Delhi Premier League T20
VProtect and the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) have recently confirmed the details of their partnership. Vprotect, India’s first alarm, monitoring, and response company, is officially the co-sponsor of the Delhi Premier League (2024). The events will start on the 17th of
August 2024 and last till the 8th of September 2024.
The tie between VProtect and the Delhi Premier League (DPL) comes as an excellent opportunity to encourage youngsters to play cricket. The brand manufactures its products in Israel and is tested in Global Laboratories. Every wireless security device that VProtect offers has an approved ETA License from the WPC, a wing of the Ministry of Communications. VProtect has its office in Gurugram, which justifies the brand’s interest in co-sponsoring the Delhi Premier League (DPL).
The former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag is the brand ambassador of this much anticipated inaugural season for the event. The veteran cricketer expressed his excitement about this new T-20 format cricket tournament.
During the trophy and the t-shirt launch event, Sehwag said, “Delhi has always been close to my heart, and I believe this league will provide a fantastic platform for young and talented cricketers from the region to shine.” He further added, “I look forward to being a part of this exciting journey and contributing to the growth of cricket in the capital.”
This T20 event will have matches for both men and women and will be organized at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The franchise auction for this T20 league was held on the 28th of July 2024, marking the sale of a total of six men’s teams for a total sum of ₹49.65 crore.
The DDCA also sent a release clarifying that bidders winning the men’s franchise are also the owners of the women’s team. The release further explains that DDCA took this approach to promote more gender inclusivity in the league.
The DDCA president, Rohan Jaitley, said, “I am delighted to announce the Delhi Premier League Season 1 with a vision to provide equal opportunity for both male and female cricketers.”
He further added, “The vision of DDCA has always been to nurture talent who can shine for their state team and country, and the Delhi Premier League is a significant step taken by the DDCA in that direction,”
Jaitley even confirmed that international players from Delhi, like Rishab Pant, Ishant Sharma, and Navdeep Saini, will also be a part of this event. At the launch event, Jaitley said, “Rishabh Pant, Navdeep Saini, Harshit Rana, and other Indian players will feature in the inaugural season of DPL. I had a talk with Rishabh Pant, and he has promised to participate in the league, but it only depends on his availability and national commitments. But as of now, he will be playing. Navdeep and Harshit will also feature in the league.”
The Delhi Premier League (DPL) will have a total of 40 matches, out of which 33 will be matches for men’s while the remaining 7 are for women’s teams. You will see a total of six men’s teams and four women’s teams in this upcoming league.

Women’s Team For Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2024
The top four bidders in the men’s franchise auction have also secured the ownership and rights
of the women’s team in the league. The names of these teams include:
- Central Delhi Kings
- South Delhi Superstarz
- East Delhi Riders
- North Delhi Strikers
A total of 270 players will play in the Delhi Premier League (DPL), and all of them are from Delhi. This includes players from the national team, under-23 players and even under-19 players. Furthermore, these players are classified into foyer broad categories that include:
- Category A: Players playing in the IPL or with any international playing experience
- Category B: This category includes players from Delhi’s current senior team.
- Category C: This includes players from Delhi’s under-19 and under-23 teams.
- Category D: Top-performing players from leagues within the clubs in Delhi.
It is fair to say that the Delhi Premier League (DPL) will certainly give more opportunities to players in the national capital. In fact, even Sehwag acknowledged the importance of these platforms and said, “In our younger days, we used to only think of playing for India or Delhi. Now, the younger generation wants to play T20. These leagues will help them get noticed.”
